If my partner tells me a fielder dropped the ball but I judge it to be held on long enough, then I don't change my call. In the case of not even asking, is my judgment that the call is right and I don't care what my partner says as long as it is not against the rules.

It's not a matter of admitting to be wrong. Judgment calls are not wrong. I didn't say I would compromise a rule call. And, I don't have to change my judgment call regardless of what my partners saw. It is my sole judgment to do that. It happens all the time in all leagues. I'll bet you think every time a manager goes out to the umpire, he is arguing the call. I'm sure you think he is when he may be asking how the ump's family is. It just looks like he is mad for a show to the fans and players.

Ive done the same thing (even though this is fake) but the coach was being pissy and i told him i would eject him and i knew who his kid was so i called the kid out on a close call and the coach didnt make it to the last inning.... :)

I have never made a call against a team just for the fun of it. But, I have been asked to get help from my partner which I go to him. But, I have told my partner that I don't care what he saw. I am not changing my call. I am only going to my partner for the appearance of help but my call stands. A rule call is the only thing I will change at that point. I don't care if the player did drop the ball on a tag play if the coach is whining. I saw it as being on the transfer and the out stands.

actually, i have done the same thing before. if a coach is just gonna sit there and bitch about something stupid, i just start agreeing with everything that he says, but my call still stands. that and there have been some guys, including me, that if the player or coach will argue with me and keep complaining, i will pick a play where it will go in favor of the other team. i've done it, and so have many other umpires, just ask them ;]
