Wynton Marsalis is the best all-around trumpet player of any era. The degree of his mastery of both classical and jazz idioms is unparalleled. It's true that Clifford Brown was a better jazz soloist, but he couldn't play classical. There are classical trumpet masters who may top Wynton's technique, but they can't swing to save their lives. Wynton can simply do more on a trumpet than any of his peers. If you make the claim that Wynton's not the best, then back it up with a name.

I like him and all.. but he sounds like a flugelhorn.. his speed, control, and mastery of the trumpet is amazing though..

post the link. The one i heard of harry james playing this was terrible. We must have been watching different things. Besides, no one can top wynton marsalis's ability to make even the most technical fast musci sound pleasing to listen to.

he messed up a couple times towards the end, cracked a couple notes...not to say he's bad though of course.
