Something, I must say as a German, what annoys me, is, where are all those movies about the cruelties of other countries? I think we do quite a job confronting us with the bad parts of our history and there are loads of films about the holocaust - one of the biggest crimes in human history. But where are the films about English cruelties in their colonies or e.g. against the Irish? What other movie than Mississipi Burning are there about the racial bigoted America? If you ask me, too few.

I think it's much more important to concentrate on the evils of the moment. Drug prohibition has criminalized a generation of Black men, but Obama and other Black politicians are virtually silent about that. Where is the outrage? Where is the demand that prohibition be ended?

The young people in this video are in their 50s and 60s today. Young white people see that Black people of this generation have a lot of racial hang-ups, but living through this is burned into your core. They'll never just get over it. Can you blame them, though?

This video breaks my heart, I can't believe the way African-Americans were treated back then. I would love nothing more than to have a time machine so I could go back in time and beat the shit out of a few of those racist motherf#@$. I'm so glad I'm alive to have seen this years election. And Mavis Staples+Ry Cooder = inspired gold.
