Well the best bang for your buck under 45 would be the danelectro fab metal. It's a pretty decent pedal, and it's usually like 10 bucks new.

if you are looking for a pedal that does hardcore I would go with something like the marshall guv'nor or jackhammer, maybe even an electroharmonix metal muff. DS-1 is pretty weak.

are you kidding me listen to their new hardwire types. they are amazing. the old pedals sucked i agree but these newly designed ones are great. true bypass too!

Yeah, Digitechs suck. They're not made to play through amps, but they sound relatively okay when played directly into a soundboard or computer. It's more or less an inexpensive alternative to micing an amp.

I have one of the digitechs and they sound bad. TO me it is like a kids toy. Boss is great.

if you are looking for a good 80's metal and hard rock sound I would definately look into a MI Audio Crunch Box. You could also go with the usual suspects from the 80's like a ProCo Rat or old Marshall Guv'nor pedal. But honestly it depends on your amp. Not every pedal sounds great with every amp. Hope that helps =)

hey a few days back i bought an sd 1, i thought it would suit my style of 80s metal and hard rock, but it really doesnt, do you have any experience with the sd 1 and if you do would a ds 1 suit my style better?
