Why not just drop Frodo in, then? Sacrifice one hobbit compared to the thousands who died in other battles? Sounds like a sexy alternative to me.

Not to be a nerd or anything but Frodo became attached to the ring after a few minutes. Therefore, he wouldn't have dropped it. The same came be said for anyone. That's my two cents.
