If only we could learn from the lessons of Vietnam today. In the 60's, groups like the yippies stood up against the war and for equal rights. Today, there is no such movement as powerful and moving as the ones led for equal rights and against the war in Vietnam. And if you ask me, we haven't done a damn thing about the war in Iraq. The generation we live is a lie. It will not act up a like Americans did in the 60's and 70's and until then, the war will just get worst and polictians more corrupt.

Thank you for the wonderful comment. Yes the "Hippies" did risk their lives too, and Ohio is not the only state to have students shot for protesting the war.

Go back and study a bit. The Gulf of Tonkin was a lie, of course. What did your uncles die for? A wrong headed ideal. Is that worth mass death? War mongers are making money - your uncles are dying for that and you still don't know any better. The rich eliete oppress the masses and the masses have no idea what's going on. HIPPIES ARE AND WERE RIGHT. Standing up for equal rights,peace and justice, "democratic" ideals. They also risked their lives, they were just on the side based on truth.

you know what olyolsson, besides the last statement about the republicans because there's always way more people tied to an issue then can neatly fit into a box labeled 'republican' i agree with what you said. the hippies stood for LOVE and PEACE. so i suggest everyone who thinks olyolsson said anything offensive toward the people who fought in the war should read it again. that war and this war isn't/wasn't a good thing, period. and with all of these war's we're doing nothing more then hurting.

Vietnam was really a threat to Austalia, huh? Your uncles died on behalf of an unpopular regime being propped up by your U.S bosses. Their deaths were based on a lie. 7 armies against the Communists and they still won. What about the use of napalm and agent orange? Who are you to curse the Vietnamese for heroically defending their social progress and country?
