This is one of the greatest songs ever recorded!! Wynonie being vastly underrated-should be credited much more, he was hugely influential, but even with the birth of Rock n Roll few managed to get it all right!! This music works on all levels- energy, power, melody, rhythm you name it... Pity there is not live footage available...(?)

Yeah, Elvis was just a white kid who had the looks and the management to put "Rock and Roll" over to the squares. Wynonie and many other black musicians were already though with it by 1955 when Ray Charles did the Gospel/Soul thing.

Remarkably, Harris' hitmaking career ENDED two years before Elvis cut his first record in 1954! "Lovin' Machine," which peaked at #5 on the R&B charts in January 1952, was Harris' FINAL chart hit. Harris made his chart debut in 1945 as the vocalist with Lucky Millinder's Orchestra on "Who Threw The Whiskey In The Well" (which hit #1 R&B and #7 pop that summer).
