These variations are not improvised, I have the notes to it and have played it on the recorder before

Well said Monrealese, but don't forget all the other wonderful instruments of passed times :) When used correctly they all sound like a fairytale. For me it's like a time machine.

When hearing a lute, all other sounds cease to exist. You enter a dreamworld and the lute is telling a fairytale. Just for you.
