This track has the killer bass riff. Cherelle has the break dancing gorilla. I like them both. I was surprised when Palmer covered the song, though, because it was originally written from a woman's point of view.

Considering other Palmer hits & his style ( R&B ), I would not say it was outside his normal range, as to be honest, up until a minute ago, his version of this song was the only one I knew of.

I agree with you. But I believe Robert had always desired to sing R&B, and, he did it well..as with all of his other genres. RIP

When this came out I was surprised he was covering a Cherelle song. It is really outside of his usual genre but now I see that this is another Jimmy Jim and Terry Lewis brainstorm. I think they produced all three Cherelle's, Robert Palmer's and Mariah's. I like this one the best.
