Nigel sucks. He's like not even in my top 15 all time. Mutter is. She is off the hook. My only knock on her is she plays to hard sometimes. I prefer perlmans and vengerovs version of this peice.

Actually i think she's putting to much feeling into it. She's playing like a piece from the romantisicm, not like it's supposed to be in baroque.

I think the first few lines of what sophie plays is a bit too quick but the rest of it, especially the main part, sounds grand like if it was being performed for her majesty or something. This is due to the other violinists providing good bass and the rest. I personally like the "Vivaldi Four Seasons - I Musici 1988" version of winter better. check it out its awesome. I liked this one as well. I dont like Nigel's versions as the speed overrides the emotions that should come out of it.

I saw the vid of Nigel on the right side (related videos) and I noticed that he plays it faster than Mutter... I fail to see how Mutter is rushing this piece.

i don't agree. actually i think you have it backwards. Mutter puts way more feeling into the vivaldi pieces than nigel.

I have seen the Kennedy version a number of times now, and I much prefer it. Everyone else seems to try and play it as fast as they can, and he plays it fast too. But he doesn't rush it so much, I think he puts more feeling into it. Still, very beautiful.
