This is true of Ocarinas! I pretty much wish that Zelda had never had an ocarina in it in the first place. I can't tell you how many comments I've seen where people are like: "OMG ocarinas are real? lolerz!!1" Tainted forever, I'm afraid...

Vivaldi has a recorder concerto. I think that is proof enough =)

Just because kids in elementary school play the recorder in music class is no reason to assume they're NOT regarded as professional instruments ;) The ones we get in school are the cheap kind. Coupled with lack of skill, it's kind of inevitable that everything comes out really squeaky.
But a more expensive recorder, when played properly, sounds very pretty :)

Wow! that was fantastic! I want more.
Did anybody notice that the second time he picked up the alto, before he started playing he blew the spit out of the fipple?

err, you do trills with your fingers lol. You cant really manipulate the air only to playe louder or softer. You can change the way tou tounge it aswell but vibrato is with tour fingers lol

hey i have a question when you do a vibrato on the recorder are you supposed to do it with your fingers or with air?

Of course it can be professional lol. Any instrument can be professional. When i went to see Wicked, they had a recorder in the orchestra and theres a dude called Piers Adams who makes a living playing the recorder lol

Professional musicians (classically trained or otherwise) recognize recorders as professional instruments. You can make money as a recording musician playing them, and there are professionals who specialize in it.

recorders can't BE professional, but they can SOUND professional, as a music student i can tell you that no professional musician counts recorders as a proffesional instrument. you do have a point though and i agree, it's really nice!
