if you really want to compare top model to top model, then compare the V Spec GTR which comes out in 2010 to any PRODUCTION Mustang and the mustang will get DESTROYED in EVERY category, not just 40 out of 42. Still wana compare top model to top model? seeing as the V Spec will cost somewhere around $110K and the best PRODUCTION mustang is around $50K. So is that Apples to Apples or Apples to Oranges according to your definition?

one guy said why compare comparable prices, why not compare top model to top model? The reason is because if I want to buy a car, i want to get the most value out of my purchase. If we all had an infinite amount of money, then these comparisons would be pointless and everyone would just buy whatever they wanted. I would probably own a rocket ship and a helicopter. But since we dont have that much money, we are bargain hunters and this is just another tool to help make an informed purchase.

While your right about the traction issue, the 335i is still pulling off sub 5 second 0-60 times (even in auto). Also there are plenty of video's on here showing the difference in "pull" between the two cars, I suggest checking them out. I believe there is a video on here that compares the Evo X to the 135i. I know its not what you wanted to see, but its probably the closest thing well get. Finally, most sources are stating the 335i is an underrated car from the factory.

For daily, all season driving, AWD rules. If you live somewhere where there's no snow and little rain, then RWD is good. In other areas it's simple - why buy a sports car if you can't drive it like it's supposed to be driven for 8 months out of the year? Thus I think for daily, all-season driving, an AWD sports car is a superior buy. Having owned many RWD sports cars I know first hand that the RWD is more fun. Yet again, I like driving my cars daily and not have them sit in the garage.

You are right, the STI traps slower than the BMW on the track. On the street it is a different story as BMW lacks the traction AWD provides. The difference in trap speeds is due to difference in gearing. BMW is 1 lb per horsepower heavier than the STI so I doubt it will ever pass the STI (up to top speed). STI's 5th and 6th gears are lower than BMW's thus STI will be faster past 1/4 mile which it hits in it tall 4th gear. I would love to see a head to head comparison between the two.

You say RWD like it's a bad thing. I'd rather have a well sorted RWD car (i.e. 335i) than an AWD car that pushes more than a sumo wrestler (i.e. STI).

I did do my research and there quarter mile times are similar. However the Sti traps about 4-7mph slower then the Bmw. To achieve quick times in an Sti, you would have to launch the car fairly hard. Hypothetically even if the Bmw driver were to launch horribly (while the Sti achieved a fast launch), the 335i would inevitably walk by it at higher speeds.SO please stop making blanket statements like the Sti would never lose to a 335i, your coming off like a fanboi

335i is way slower than an STI, do your research. Yes it has bigger brakes but it is a heavier car. Yes it has a broader torque curve. But you get small trunk, RWD and a $3K heavier price tag for the base model over the STI. And guess what? On the street, STI will walk all over the 335i, breakfast lunch and dinner, every day of the year. BMW coolness factor is disputable, and like I said - you can be cool and slow, or cool and fast, your choice. I'd definitely take the 335i vs a Mustang though.

Lets see, the 335i is faster, has a better powerband, traps higher, has a nicer interior, better brakes, and costs around the same (a base 335i is around the same as an optioned Sti). So in todays world, it is the "cool" choice.
