Thansk! But I don't know anyting about this type of turbine..srry!

wow!..great animation man!... where can I get an animation for a MICHAEL BANKI type turbine??.. these type of turbines are not frequently used and its hard to get some info.

Yes it is. It's even more difficult to calculate the right shape of the runner and the spiral case due to get the maximum efficiency. However, using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) technique nowadays, the designing of a good turbines is getting much much easier than in the past.

It's really difficult to make a not constant diameter in francis turbine...

Thanks for uploading man! Very visual assembly!!

Thanx for uploading this!

Sorry, but the turbines are not the important thing in this video, the 3d animation is the important thing! Well, thank's!

There is one enormous mistake made on the Francis turbine in this animation. The spiral case here has a constant diameter, instead of changeable diameter on real turbines. The constant diameter of the spiral case will decrease the efficiency of the turbine, produce a lot of noise and cavitation.

I was just speculating, I'm by no means an engineer, just a curious person. It all seems pretty interesting. Thanks for the response.
Yeah, in my mind what i was thinking would have been as wide as a 4 lane road, dunno how long. SIlly youtube vids making me think of such random things.
Impractical doesn't mean impossible! gimme that at least

It wouldn't be practical at all, as you would have to carry your high pressure high volume water source around with you (Heavy..), or have some crazy hose system setup.
So yes, a water powered turbine directly powering a moving vehicle is impossible.
You can have an indirectly water turbine powered car. (ie: electric car charged with hydroelectric power).
If you want a turbine powered vehicle get a gas turbine, although you might find it a little impractical.

Sorry, i meant to specify mass transportation vehicles, say the length of a bus but the width of a tank? i dunno, i was just curious. Not compact ones for personal use.
Is it impossible?
