I grew up in Valpo; Tim Bishop was phenomenal, and yes, it was the Mets who picked him very early in the June amateur draft. He had hit .325 his 1st year in the minors and was already moved up a level to Columbia, SC, where he was in the accident. He was 20, and just 2 years out of high school.

i watched bryce play in high school he was great then but he just got better as time went on.he played with a guy in high school named tim bishop who was also great he was drafted out of high school to play baseball for the mets (i think) he got killed in a car accident the year after they graduated. very sad they were very good palyers and even better people

Yes. I'm a Valpo alum. My senior year was the year this happened. I drove down Route 30from my apartment Merrillville to go to class. Worked in the bookstore right by the ARC. Not 20 minutes after the win, the demand for Valpo gear was absolutely insane. I too remember this like it was yesterday.
