I have no opinion on Rihanna's singing talent, but frankly, I'd rather listen to music that sounds good then hear about the troubles of some ancient civilization I neither know nor care about. take classical music. They don't write it about the exploits of some emperor that lived int 1099, do they? If it sounds good, it's good music. the lyrics don't matter except to set the mood of the piece and to tell a story, just like the melody of a classical piece.

She's capable of being a great singer, but the content just isn't there. What is the song about? Relationship problems, usually with some bullshit guy -- what all these pop songs are about. You want to hear something good try Beneath a Phrygian Sky by Loreena McKennitt. The song is about the disparities of the people of Phrygia, a civilization that lived in modern Turkey between 1200-700BC. Sounds "gay"? Just try it.

I have to ask...why do ya'll think this is good music? She's another young girl with an I'm-hot-stuff attitude (don't take my word for it, just look at her pictures), who knows how to quiver her vocal chords. A record company took notice and nabbed her up, gave her a mic. She'll get 15 minutes of fame and disappear, while the company profits and moves on to the next hot stuff that thinks they have something new to say... (more in next post)
