Your playing is fine. I admire your sound quality and passion by the movements you make and also going into the depths of the clarinet repertoire at your age.

3. Anyone who does not understand this is clearly inexperienced, not an artist, and is not qualified to judge or perform these kinds or levels of music. People who criticize and nitpick the irrelevant are known as COWS... always MOOing though they have nothing of substance to say.

Add to that list David Shifrin, Jon Manasse, Richard Stoltzman, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr... I studied with all four of them, and they all move in this way when they play. People, it's customary when you're sitting in a band that you conform to sitting mostly still, but soloists and chamber musicians are more free to do what works for them in feeling the music, expressing, cuing and projecting.

1. As a professional clarinetist myself, I have to say that all the stupid, negative comments about this outstanding young soloist's physical movement, etc. are so obviously from envious amateurs and other hacks who likely couldn't play their way out of a paper bag. If not, I challenge them each to post their own clips showing them doing better than this performer. Go look up Sabine Meyer on YouTube; she's probably the finest clarinet soloist in the world, and she moves more than anyone.

People! People! Just because he sucks doesn't mean that he should be ridiculed. When someone lacks talent at this magnitude you should just say "nice job" and go about your business. His movements are because he is nervous. He is nervous because he forgot to memorize the music and realized at the last second that he doesn't really know which end of the clarinet to blow into. Be nice!

Not too loud at all. The balance is just fine, especially considering it is one player against an amateur "band". I do wish the director would spend more time on intonation with the players. Who knows though, he may have brought them a long way to get to even this point. Still...the intonation of the ensemble is the biggest indicator of the "amateur" level. For anyone who has performed in front of a band like this,...you then that you do the best you can and be gratefulforthe opprtnty
