he had the sweet razor arm bar (which is hard to finish with no-gi), he transfered perfectly to the kimura, and the position he had would have been difficult to transfer to the triangle. as soon as marquardt rolled and lister landed in North South position with, in kimura position it was over. Dean lister has real slick jiu jitsu, exciting guy to watch.

Even though I don't believe BJJ is overrated, the example you gave was sort of stupid. Almost NO ONE knew of BJJ back then and Severn being a wrestling champion and having an extra 80 pounds really didn't mean jack shit back then against Royce Gracie or any other BJJ practitioner.

yeah i recently joined a renzo gracie academy. other place i trained at closed. but they have bjj and muay thai which is really good. been there for about 5 months now.

bjj is a great base to start with....add western boxing or thai boxing and your good to go

bjj is good but in a combination with other arts. one art alone is not sufficient enough to be a champ, you'll get your ass handed to you by everybody.

Dean could of ended that with a triangle from the top if he wanted to ...and yeah Proc..your a retard..you see over and over again how Jiujitsu rules in mma.. Nogueira (heavyweight champ) is a beast..and remember when Frank Mir broke tim sylvias arm in half and almost snapped Brock Lesnars ankle? and the gracies proved that matched up style to style..BJJ always won
