Ah, the great Fritz Lehmann conducting the great Berlin Philharmonic in this great piece by the great Felix Mendelssohn! Many thanks for restoring it to YouTube!

Oops, I answered that with the wrong channel id...
Anyway, easy to find the new channel now... :)
To continue about the European Archive, due to copyright restrictions, people with an ip address from the USA are not allowed to download the LP's. Sorry, but that was the only way the European Archive could "officially" work with big audio archives in Europe. On the plus side, there will be many classical lp's (also ones that never were issued on cd like Beethoven by Max Rostal!) you can download

That said, I have the song "Rehab" bu Amy Winehouse in my car stereo at the moment...:) But... I'm a rich man, because I love classical music and (some!) popmusic at the same time. Thanks for your comment! I have a second channel, btw. I actually got a job (one dat a week) working with old records:)!
The channel is called "EuropeanArchive" and you can find it on the subscriptions in my channel home. There is also an EA website where (non-Americans only, sorry) coan download classical lp's (free!)

I just absolutely adore this piece! Mendelssohn was just a genius, when i close i my eyes i can virtually see these cold and rocky islands rising majestically from the sea. I love this music.
Compare it to our today's Artists like Amy Whinehouse and others, who attract more attention for their drug scandals rather than for their Art....i am glad that we still have the treasure of Classical Music, from times gone by when mankind had reached their cultural all-time high.

Lehmann was such a great conductor! I've got a few LPs (Handel's Water Music, 2 Cantatas and the 1955/56 complete recording of Bach's Christmas Oratorio he could not finish, because he died) I really love!
Great video, by the way! ;)
