Sounds like a good ol' tritone chord substitution. Always way cool when done with the right voicing - which goes without saying. :-) BTW: yep, Joey is totally insane. he is lightnig fast, jet everything he plays sounds perfectly clear and comprehensible. He always seems to merge like 3 or more different styles and cliches into something brand new and way cool. Joey is the best!

Answer: On 4:28 he did chord substitution F# instead of C7 ( dominant ) played in arpeggios. Peterson and Tatum often use it. I often use it. many people like it.
