a number of things can affect it, usually it is because their wings are saturated, but in the thinner pitcher in this case, there simply isn't enough room to fully stretch its wings out, thus no room for upward lift

yes leaf cutter wasps and idk what else have chewed there way out of sarracenia but most bugs arent so lucky.
