Stupid question here. I've recently watched the dvd of Karajan conducting Beethoven's 7th, 8th, and 9th symphonies, and in those performances he used a baton while conducting. Is there some reason in particular that he wouldn't use it for Bolero? Or did he stop using it all together at some point?
