I think the guy in the last stand of the 2nd violins could play more convincingly than he - and certainly with a better tone...

All this squabbling about Bell's music is just quibbling over interpretations and missing the point. He is a gifted musician and is playing the piece how he interprets it, and it is beautiful. Enough with the hating... it's petty and nobody cares.

I love how he moves with the music
i think it adds to the music
I think that's what hinders a lot of musicians, not moving with the music. I think if you are too stiff the music will sound stiff.

Please Please Please listen to Heifetz's recording of this piece people...his playing is absolute rubbish and he destroys Heifetz's arrangement...what a charlatan Joshua Bell!

Is it just me, or it seems the music is misplaced with the audio?
As far as I remember, the pieces played in the 2007 Las night of the Proms were Rachmaninoff 'vocalise' and Ravel's Tziganne...this very same video remember's me the intepretation of 'vocalise'...so is this audio not matching the video or I'm missing something?
Thanks in advance for any explanation.

so according to you, we must put accents on the long notes and decrescendo on them as well? i would definitely want to see a performance of estrellita (or any other work) in this way and see how "successful" it will be...

Music is up for interpretation, and most of the time you're supposed to crescendo on the long notes. He emphasized the short notes because if you don't, they'll be lost, or not heard as well. This performance was very musical.
