Both of them can sing, Mavis is one of my all time favorites. Joss Stone is beautiful, but should put something on. It's strange to see her dressed like that next to Mavis Staples. I guess both just represent different times.

There are millions of people who have the potential to be great artists.Sadly they will remain undiscovered & we know why. Race & class,are just some of the reasons.Never the less thats not an argument not to recognize what a great talent Joss Stone is. She has always given credit to her influences rooted as they are in the great Gospel,Soul and RnB traditions of Black America.Lets not forget that Stones mentor,producer, friend is the great Betty Wright. We have Josh Stones in our churches that never make it to fame. We hear them every Sunday. This is why they are saying that she has a good tone.

I think you are all completely wrong and suffering from a mixture of jealousy and inverted snobbery, because she's a young woman and white. Joss Stone has an utterly fantastic voice. She knows intuitively how to sing with soul. Very rare these days. Daubrey Weirdsley.

joss stone has a nice sound but her singing is the same all the time. i can listen to her on a song and that's it...

Joss Stone is overrated to the fullest She is up there because she has a good marketabilty factor. Out of all the thousands of young girls who can sing almost better than Joss Stone and appreciate the old school almost more so equally than Joss Stone. There are some underrated singers i know who can sing next Mavis and blow the roof down.
