You have to understand the one pictured here is a remake, not an original. I think they didn't realise how much of an impact they'd made when the old one was left dismantled and/or sitting in a store room :-)

more realistic than Ralph baer's pong...

What?! that's insane! If the lab sold it to a Video Game collector they could get money to buy ten times more parts.

Likely it got stripped down and parts were simply reused in other projects - it was, after all, a working lab.

Actually, that's wrong. 'Video' is defined as 'pertaining to or employed in the transmission or reception of television pictures', and television is then defined as 'The transmission of dynamic or sometimes static images, generally with accompanying sound, via electric or electromagnetic signals.' - Regardless of whether the display method is continuous or discrete, the concept of video remains the same - it is the display of images that are transmitted 'via electric or electromagnetic signals.'

actually that "cathode ray tube amusement device" wasn't classified as a "video game" like this because it has overlapping pictures instead of only one picture maybe created from 50 pictures

Actually the first computer game ever was the cathode ray tube amusement device from 1947, created by Thomas T. Goldsmith Jr. It's such a pity that there are no animated pictures...

Both fail. This isn't the 1st neither the 2nd. And the rocket simulator was in 1947. There was couple of games before this one, like NIMROD and OXO.
