"Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" On June 12, 1987, United States President Ronald Reagan spoke the people of West Berlin at the base of the Brandenburg Gate at the Berlin wall. Due to the amplification system being used, President Regans words could also be heard on the Eastern (Communist-controlled) side of the wall. On Nov. 9-11, 1989, the people of East Berlin freed by Regans "COLD WAR" forign polices tore down that wall.

The Moskva is the name of the river that runs through Moscow, and Gorky Park is the name of an amusement park in Moscow. The Scorpions were inspired to write this song on a visit to Moscow in 1989, and therefore included references to the aforementioned landmarks.

The lyrics celebrate the political changes in Eastern Europe at that time such as the Polish Round Table Agreement and fall of the Berlin Wall, the increasing freedom in the communist bloc (which would soon lead to the fall of the USSR), and the clearly imminent end of the Cold War.

Marko, I wouldn't bet on that just yet!!! And don't think that the american economy doesn't have an impact on the economy of the rest of the world- watch the news- every time our dow drops, the markets in other countries also drop. Like it or not, we are all tied together on some level.
