His movements aren't because he's nervous, he's letting his emotions from the music flow in the form of motion. Many professional musicians do this. And "he forgot to memorize the music"?, he has a stand holding his sheet music right in front of him. He doesn't suck, he plays this piece very beautifully. Please, do not critique on something you are obviously inexperienced with.

I hate it when people ridicule musicians for their moving about. I'm not sure if these people are musicians themsevles, but something they should know is that if the playing provokes movement, then for the sake of the music you give in to it. If you are thinking about what you look like more than your playing, then you aren't really playing.

interesting piece, despite 15 years of study, degrees, and artists' diplomas i had never heard it, beautiful tone, legato technique , and phrasing;altogether an excellent clarinetist; his staccato is perfect for he mood of this work.

Thank you.

For his age, I would like to say he preformed, wonderfully. He might lack what you concider talent, but you lack tact, and you're comments are uncalled for.

Your playing is fine. I admire your sound quality and passion by the movements you make and also going into the depths of the clarinet repertoire at your age.

3. Anyone who does not understand this is clearly inexperienced, not an artist, and is not qualified to judge or perform these kinds or levels of music. People who criticize and nitpick the irrelevant are known as COWS... always MOOing though they have nothing of substance to say.

Add to that list David Shifrin, Jon Manasse, Richard Stoltzman, Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr... I studied with all four of them, and they all move in this way when they play. People, it's customary when you're sitting in a band that you conform to sitting mostly still, but soloists and chamber musicians are more free to do what works for them in feeling the music, expressing, cuing and projecting.
