A Tribute To Ruby Keeler & Busby Berkeley

Back

A tribute to the wonderful dancer, actress and singer Ruby Keeler, 1909-1993, and visionary musical choreographer Busby Berkekey, 1895-1976. Busby's productions were over-the-top, campy and surrealistic. But, the escapism provided Depression Era movie goers of the 1930's a temporary reprieve from gloom. Ruby became one of the first tap dancing stars of early musicals. Audiences found her attractive and sexy in a wholesome sort of way. I agree...she had loads of cuteness and talent. I also think that there was an undercurrent of Sapphic eroticism expressed in Busby's musical numbers that revolved heavily around scores of beautiful women interacting with each other. The Scenes In Order Of Appearance: 42nd Street (1933) Footlight Parade (1933) Dames (1934)
