Gumendje is encircled by vineyards, mulberry trees and a variety of mediterranean and other fruit trees. Its people who are Bulgarian, mainly work in the vineyards or the silkworm industry. Most of Gumendje's requirements for vegetables, corn and timber are met by the surrounding villages.
