Tapping with Hal Le Roy

Back

His dance partners included Mitzi Mayfair, Dawn O'Day (not Anne Shirley), June Allyson, Eunice Healy, Dorothy Dare, Mildred Law and his wife, Ruth Dodd. Before he turned twenty, Hal Le Roy (1913-1985) had made it big in vaudeville and as a "spot" in Broadway shows. He starred in only one feature (Harold Teen, 1934), so the bulk of his work was preserved in various film shorts. One can tell, by watching these clips, that these dancers were in their prime, and were kept in condition by continually performing in vaudeville and other stage presentations that do not exist today. Somebody please find his two appearances on "The Dean Martin Show" (March 17 and December 22, 1966) and his nine appearances on Ed Sullivan's "Toast of the Town" (1949 to 1954).
